Music Seen

This could be my absolute favorite design project I’ve ever created. I always wanted to play the piano and so when my oldest daughter asked us if she could learn to play piano at the ripe old age of 4, I jumped all over it. After a few years of her playing she grew increasingly better and so I knew I needed to get her a piano. I searched high and low and found this amazing upright that a wonderful woman was selling – she had raised her kids on this gorgeous piano and was downsizing her home so she had to get rid of it. It broke her heart to sell it but she loved that it was going to two little girls with promising music careers, or so in my opinion, ahead of them. I loved the look of the 100-year-old piano and the history, gah, I loved that even more… I just hated the color. So I did what anyone would do, I decided to paint it. I chose 4 different shades of blue/turquoise blends and painted them on the side of the piano and then let my family vote for their favorite. This was a much longer and intense process than I imagined considering no one could agree. I desperately tried to get my youngest daughter to side with my color and naturally she chose the color that one no one liked essentially spreading out my potential tie. In the end of a long week of discussing and trying to bribe my family we should do a completely different color shade, my husband and oldest daughter prevailed as it was their color with the most votes…. I will admit the piano looks fantastic as they chose a Sherwin Williams paint called Tidewater. This piece sits perfectly in our main living space and has nicely found its way into our adorning eyes as much as it has into our ears and hearts and that is why I will keep it another 100 years. Which do you prefer, A or B?
